In the glow of mid-afternoon, with the sun still hanging high, a lone figure in red descends slowly, step by step, into the vast expanse of cascading rice terraces. From a distance, she is a fleeting silhouette, almost swallowed by the immensity of green, her path etched along the sharp, slender borders of the paddies.
The terraces, drenched in sunlight, glisten with reflected gold, their waterlogged surfaces mirroring the sky above. Through the compression of a telephoto lens, the landscape folds upon itself, patterns interwoven like a tapestry of labor and time. Within this intricate maze, the woman moves with purpose. Her presence a vivid stroke of red against a canvas of green, a moment of contrast in an endless rhythm of growth and harvest.
Here, simplicity meets scale. Geometry and light converge. The vibrant red of her clothing dances against the subdued hues of the terraces, a delicate balance between solitude and belonging. Unlike inkjet printing, each image is laser-exposed onto silver halide photographic paper and chemically developed using a traditional chromogenic process.
