Home of the Indonesia Archive

Ôde à l'Indonésie is the public gallery of Imperfect Frame, an ongoing photographic archive documenting Indonesia since 2015.

Through museum-quality fine art prints and photobooks, the gallery presents a carefully curated selection of works from French photographer Marius Moragues exploring the archipelago's peoples, landscapes, and living traditions.

Each photograph belongs to a larger archive built over years of fieldwork across Indonesia, with the ambition of preserving visual records of a rapidly changing nation for future generations.

Opened in June 2022 and located in the cultural heart of Ubud, Ôde à l'Indonésie invites visitors to discover Indonesia beyond the familiar through through inspiring photographs gathered over more than a decade of exploration.

Come curious. Leave inspired.

Gorgeous pictures. Before you even enter the gallery, the photos attract you like a magnet. The power that emerges from each of them is such that you can only stop there. The artist photographer is a passionate person who managed to involve me in the stories he was able to tell me. His journey is beautiful, full of wisdom and generosity. Each photo has a soul. It is a very beautiful meeting and discovery. I wish him the best for the future.

Just walked by and immediately felt in love with the beautiful images of Marius !
It is clear from the photographs that Marius has this wonderful human connection with Indonesian population and particularly from Java.
The lady from the gallery was very welcoming and kind.
I immediately went to follow the account Imperfectframe on Instagram to see more of Marius and his work which I believe is remarkable.

We were snatched up as we passed the shop, the photos are so beautiful. We were right to return, a very kind young girl welcomed us, explained to us where and why such a photo was taken, etc.
The next day we went back to the shop to buy Marius' book. As the saleswoman had promised us, Marius was present and we had a wonderful time discussing his career, he explained to us how he liked to photograph people, landscapes, etc., then signed his book for us.
From now on, when I open Beyond, I project myself into the adventure of Marius.
Enter this wonderful gallery without any hesitation!!

Beautiful photography, I wanted to buy the entire shop! Stunning shots also printed on wood - perfect to hang up at home. Somehow the essence of Indonesia and it’s magical people have been captured in every piece. Marius (owner and artist) is kind, humble and extremely talented.

We discovered the universe of Marius and his magnificent gallery in Ubud. His first album on Java is exceptional and we are happy to have been able to read it and go back with it as a souvenir! Thank you for this moment of sharing! 🔥

Amazing art and great customer service too. After I got home from Indonesia I wanted to buy a print my husband had been admiring for his birthday. The first package was damaged in transit so the owner sent another one (packed extremely well!) which arrived in perfect condition.

*The* must-see gallery in Bali (if you ask me)!

This quaint, elegant gallery is a little gem in one of the prettiest streets of Ubud's central area. Filled with images that capture the joy, stories, and soul of the Indonesian people that the photographer Marius has met along his decade of travels around the country, it is truly an 'ode to Indonesia'.

Each photo is printed in exceptional quality and the best part is that they all come with a story. Marius is a fun, engaging storyteller and after I stopped in the first time, I kept going back because it's so wonderful to hear personal stories of connection with a once-foreign place that's now become someone's home.

They also have lovely wooden prints and large-sized, glossy postcards with the images on them - finally postcards that are *worth* sending!

Absolutely recommended as a stop on your trip to Bali - and the prints, book, or even postcards make beautiful, personal souvenirs or gifts for back home.

Beautiful shop with very nice pictures. Both landscapes, people. I couldn't choose so I bought four wooden prints. Also a very friendly helpful lady in the shop. Not pushy. Definitely go take a look.
